When people talk about the change in the weather you mention the atmospheric stability class or surface roughness characteristics. You have a t-shirt that reads, “Question AERMOD.” You excel at Excel. You know what inhalation, homegrown produce, dermal exposure, soil ingestion, and mother’s milk all have in common. You feel sorry for the MEI. You speak probability.
You can readily explain OEHHA, IPCC, HAP vs. TAC, GWP, Scoping Plan, CEQA, EIR, MND to your non-air quality friends. You have inventoried an entire year. You think about the years 2020, 2030, and 2050. Brainstorming how to address a recent court decision at happy hour is fun. You can perform complex calculations and clearly write the story about the results. You’re curious, caring, collegial, collaborative, career-oriented, and committed to quality.
What working at Ascent would be like:
- Author analytical sections of CEQA (and occasional NEPA) documents for a wide variety of projects throughout California.
- Perform air dispersion modeling and health risk calculations using AERMOD and HARP2.
- Explain health risk exposure and GHG targets to planning officials and the public.
- Team tackle a broad range of air quality, toxics, and GHG issues, including leading-edge thinking, with project managers, principals, and other resource specialists.
- Discuss project impact, mitigation, and planning ideas with recognized leaders in air quality and climate change policy, and CEQA.
- Enjoy social times with co-workers at group lunches, themed events, the annual Halloween parade, and Pi Day Pie Contests.

We are seeking a candidate with a passion for air quality/toxics/GHG and CEQA issues who would conduct technical analyses; modeling of stationary, area, and mobile sources; community planning; and writing of technical report sections. Projects may include CEQA (and occasional NEPA) documents, health risk assessments, community risk reduction plans, community plans, and developing/quantifying mitigation measures.
